Great way to spend an afternoon

Was a really fun time. We thought the game was challenging enough to make us think a little and get around the neighborhood but easy enough as to not be frustrating. We stopped in the middle and at the end to treat ourselves at restaurants in the neighborhood, and we really enjoyed that aspect.

Fun with friends and WAY cheaper than your typical Escape Room

I did this in a group of 4 (including me) and we really enjoyed it! We have done escape rooms as a group in the past (all indoors) and opted for this experience because of the reasonable price and the ability to get some nice outside time. I found out about Escapely through my work as we did the Baltimore version as a team-building activity and I really enjoyed it, so I thought trying out the Adams Morgan one with my friends would be a blast and I was correct! 🙂
I felt that the difficulty level was appropriate; some items stumped us, but we were always able to figure out the responses but occasionally needed a clue.

My favorite part of the game was definitely using landmarks to figure out the puzzles, like walking up and down the street to find different murals to solve the code. Really hoping to see a new version of this in another area of DC to try!

    A Fun Intro to Escapes

We happened to do this during a “Porch Party” weekend (essentially a block party for the entire neighborhood) and it was a ton of fun! We were able to piece together the real culprit and solve the mystery in time for dinner at one of the restaurants in the area. Our hardened team of escapers (20+ rooms) didn’t have much trouble with the puzzles here, but it was fun exploring the town to find the real life clues! Definitely recommended as an intro to escape rooms or city escapes!

    Escapely Adams Morgan

We had a blast exploring Adams Morgan while trying to solve all of the clues!

The hint feature was a big help. We really appreciated how the hints could be revealed in levels. Sometimes all you need is a slight nudge and not the entire answer, and Escapely let’s you decide how much of the tip you want to see.

We found the puzzles challenging, and well designed.

You will need a fully charged cellphone, as QR codes reveal each clue and more.

Highly recommend! A great way to get outside and explore the city!

    So much fun!

We really had a fun time. It took way longer than anticipated though, but super fun nonetheless. It was challenging but not impossible. Value for money!

If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our DC escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within DC's Adams Morgan, the clues are different than all other Whodunnit games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Adams Morgan is one of the most funky and eclectic neighborhoods in all of Washington, D.C. It's very pedestrian-friendly and 18th Street, the center of Adams Morgan, is filled with interesting shops, dining options, and great nightlife. The DC Arts Center hosts local artists and Meridian Hill Park is a great place to go on a nice day. Tryst coffee shop is a neighborhood staple and their sister restaurant (The Diner) is a partner of the escape room!
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in DC!
Adams Morgan is very small (only about a mile from end to end) so you can park anywhere in the area and be close to the game. Public transportation and ride share are always recommended to cut down parking costs.
There are no indoor clues in our DC escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around Washington DC's Adams Morgan for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Adams Morgan.
