Fun way to get to know Chicago/Fulton Market

My girlfriend and I visited Chicago for our anniversary this past January. I saw this on my Instagram one day and decided to try it out. The escape room adventure was set in Fulton Market. We stayed nearby to solve the mystery. It started us with clues inside the box and led to finding clues in the neighborhood.

Overall, the experience was amazing. The puzzles were difficult but also provided enough guidance to help us navigate when we got stuck. Each of the puzzles are very unique and thought provoking. My girlfriend and I like to play escape rooms and this was another exceptional experience. We would both highly recommend playing this in Chicago to get to know the city and give the brain a bit of a workout.

Perfect birthday present- Fulton Market Escapely

My daughter and I did a NYC escape room nine years ago for my birthday -that was fun, but this was better! The clues for Chicago’s Fulton Market Escapely were challenging, but not too challenging. And if you get stuck, there are good hints. The clues give you a chance to explore the neighborhood. It is a very cool neighborhood. What a great way to spend a fall afternoon- exercising both mind and body with my daughter! Couldn’t ask for a better birthday present!

    Fun and Challenging!

My wife and I had a blast doing the Chicago-Fulton Market Escapely box! It is definitely challenging and requires you to think outside of the box, but can be tiered to any difficulty setting based on how willing/wanting you are to use the hints available. We only used a couple when stuck, but felt like with a bigger group it would be just as fun and fewer hints would be needed. I can’t wait for more Chicago neighborhoods to come out!

    Chicago City Adventure Box

This was our first Escapely City Adventure box and we had a blast. The Fulton Market area was a great neighborhood to explore (even as a Chicago resident). The puzzles were challenging and fun but not so much that we spent too many hours on them. Great date night activity! Would recommend a warmer month than February 🙂

I love the game concept. It was based in Chicago and I’m not in Chicago so I used some of the game contents to build a murder mystery as a team building activity and my team loved it. I played the introduction for them played out a fake body in the floor and had them figure out pieces to the puzzle. They had a great time.

Chicago escape room FAQ

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within Fulton Market, the clues are different than all other Whodunnit games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Fulton Market is an up-and-coming urban neighborhood with a thriving entertainment scene. The culinary options are near endless, including many that are stops along the escape room (come hungry!). It was once an industrial warehouse district, and now features many colorful murals - perfect for clues. It's a walkable area and easy to get to. If you stick around after playing the escape room, there are art galleries, a video arcade, plenty of boutiques to browse, and of course, many food options.
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in Chicago!
We suggest parking near N Peoria Street and W Lake Street, as that is where you will start the game. Fulton Market is a small enough area that anywhere in the vicinity will work. If you prefer public transportation, you can take the Green Line to Morgan Station, the Blue Line to Grand Station, or the Halsted bus (8) to Fulton Market.
In our Fulton Market escape room, there are several clues located in businesses (some even give our players a discount!). You will not need to interact with staff or make a purchase to play, but you will need to enter to find the clues.
It's a self-guided adventure around Fulton Market for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Chicago.
