The best Sacramento escape room experience

About the escape room game

This escape room adventure around downtown Sacramento takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Sacramento. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around downtown Sacramento to track down clues and expose double agents!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Sacramento. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Sacramento escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

In Escapely's Sacramento escape room, you are a top secret spy tasked with exposing a ring of double agents threatening to take down the agency. We suggest starting at There and Back Cafe and Games in downtown Sacramento. From there, you'll head to Sacramento City Hall to take a close look at Sacramento's sister cities. Another stop is a clue at the District Court for the Eastern District of California, particularly the fountain outside.

One of the most fun clues in the Sacramento escape room takes you to Missing the Mark, an outdoor public art installation featuring multi-colored darts and a giant dart board. You will need to examine and locate some of the darts, including one that's a little tricky to find. Another clue is at one of the light rail stations. Because Sacramento is the state capitol, it is a transit hub throughout California and the city has worked to put artwork by local artists at most of their light rail stations. We were able to incorporate one of them into the escape room. It's an extremely walkable city so you will enjoy exploring the city and finding the clues by foot!

Sacramento escape room FAQ

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within Sacramento, the clues are different from all other Spyhunter games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Downtown Sacramento is an extremely walkable city with a walkability score of 93. It's also extremely green, with more trees per capita than any other US city! In addition to the capitol building, the downtown area is filled with museums, parks, and eclectic restaurants of all kinds. If you play during the summer, you can enjoy the farmers market afterward or even the concerts in the park, which run on Fridays during the summer months. If you're hungry, checkout the Downtown Commons (near where the Sacramento Kings play) for plenty of food and drink options. An outdoor escape room is the perfect way to experience the area and see some things in downtown Sacramento you may not have noticed before!
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in Sacramento!
Sacramento is known for great public transportation, so if possible, use public transportation to get to downtown Sacramento. Once you're there, everything is in walking distance! If driving is the best option, there are plenty of paid parking spots throughout the downtown area.
There are no indoor clues in our Sacramento escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around downtown Sacramento for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Sacramento!
