    Fun family activity exploring Austin!

Escapely is a fun and unique way to get a tour of Austin! The game takes you through downtown Austin where you get to explore some historic sites, all while keeping you engaged with the Escape game. This is a great family activity for all ages. It is self-paced so you can take a break, if needed, at one of the many local restaurants you pass by during the game. My family had a great time and we highly recommend Escapely!

    Great for tourists or locals!

My friends and I do lots of escape rooms and we had a great time with this game! It felt like a good difficulty if you’ve played escape rooms before or are a beginner who loves puzzles. And it’s a great way to explore a city, whether you’re visiting as a tourist or are a local and want to see the city from a different perspective.

About the escape room game

This escape room adventure around downtown Austin takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Austin. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around downtown Austin to track down clues and expose double agents!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Austin. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Austin escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

In Escapely's Austin escape room, you are a top secret spy tasked with exposing a ring of double agents threatening to take down the agency. We suggest starting at Capitol Cafe at 1001 Congress Ave #180 because it's close to the first clue. You will head to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission which oversees all of the state libraries in Texas. You will also venture to the Texas State Capitol grounds to visit the Tejano Monument, which honors the role Tejano settlers have played in Texas history. Nearby, you will also stop by the Texas African American History Memorial, which depicts June 19th 1865, also known as Juneteenth, when African Americans were freed from slavery. It also celebrates other notable events in African American Texas history.

You will get some interesting Austin architecture as you visit the Norwood tower, a 16-story Gothic skyscraper. In 1929, it was the first building in Austin with central air conditioning and electric elevators. Today, it has been refurbished. Finally, you will stop by the Paramount Theater in downtown Austin, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. You can end the game anywhere you would like, but we suggest Punch Bowl Social on 522 Congress Ave. It has music, food, drinks, and games! It even has bowling lanes. If you plan your Austin escape room for evening time, there are plenty of dinner options in the area to finish off the night.

Austin escape room FAQ

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within downtown Austin, the clues are different from all other Spyhunter games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Austin is well known for its live music and nightlife. Most people even if not from Austin have heard of Austin City Limits, the famous music festival. Austin is also home to South by Southwest, which is an annual music, film, and comedy event. This comes together to create a lively atmosphere perfect for enjoying an outdoor escape room. There is also a thriving tech scene and plenty of fabulous restaurants. 4th Street is home to many of the city's LGBTQ bars and 6th Street is famous for nightlife. There are art galleries, international restaurants, and a variety of places to get brews or craft cocktails. The downtown area is the most walkable area in Austin so it's the perfect spot for an outdoor escape room!
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in downtown Austin!
Park near the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to be close to the start of the game. There is ample paid parking in the area!
There are no indoor clues in our Austin escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
