The best New Orleans escape room experience

About the escape room game

This escape room adventure around the French Quarter in New Orleans takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in NOLA. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around New Orleans to track down ghosts and reunite two star-crossed lovers!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in NOLA. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our New Orleans escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

Escapely's New Orleans escape room starts off with a visit to Vitascope Hall, America's first movie theater. When it opened in 1896 (in an auditorium filled with chairs and used church pews), a movie cost 10 cents! Next, you'll head to Musical Legends Park, a tribute to the jazz musicians who helped make New Orleans famous for its music. The park on Bourbon Street has live music every single day! It also happens to have a beignet place, and we all know you can't visit New Orleans without eating at least a few beignets.

The next part of our New Orleans outdoor escape room will take you to Antoine's Restaurant, a family-owned mecca of French-Creole cuisine and a throwback to NOLA's history. You'll then get to walk the streets in search of more clues while enjoying the architecture the French Quarter is known for. It might surprise you to know it's actually more Spanish-influenced than French, with wrought-iron balconies and stuccoed fronts. This is because France briefly gave control to Spain and during that time, New Orleans was rebuilt. Close out the game at Jackson Square in search of your final clue and then celebrate your escape!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Escape The City game will arrive in the mail to the address provided at checkout. We have a small number of New Orleans escape games available for same-day pick up for tourists and last-minute players. Call 702-747-3009 or email escapethecity@escapely.com for availability.
Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated throughout the French Quarter in New Orleans, the clues themselves are different from all other Relic games. But the puzzles will feel very familiar.
Few neighborhoods in the world are as famous as the French Quarter! When we decided to create a New Orleans escape room, there was little question about where it would be. It is both steeped in history and known for raucous fun. As you wander around looking for clues, you'll enjoy the architecture and colors not found anywhere else in the world! The architecture has hints of France and overwhelming Spanish influence (from the brief period of time that France gave control of New Orleans to Spain). Also, because of the Haitian immigrants to New Orleans after the Haitian Revolution, the colors are bright and Caribbean. There is plenty to eat and drink as you enjoy a hurricane or French-Creole cuisine while playing this New Orleans escape room!
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in New Orleans!
The streets in the French Quarter are notoriously small and parking is extremely difficult to come by. Try taking one of the famous trolly cars (New Orleans trollies load from the back!) or take ride share to and from the neighborhood. Once you're in the French Quarter, the whole escape room is in walking distance.
There are no indoor clues in our New Orleans escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around Prospect Heights for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in New Orleans!
