Great puzzle hunt for an afternoon with friends

Great puzzle hunt for an afternoon with friends, and a good excuse to walk around San Diego. The clues and props were really well done. We especially enjoyed how things in the environment were used to solve the puzzles. Great fun for small groups who enjoy puzzles and escape rooms!

    Great Date in Little Italy

My wife and I really loved our San Diego Escapely! It was a very outside the box and fun date and we’re definitely bummed there aren’t more for different neighborhoods in San Diego. Thank you so much for a great product!

    Spyhunter: A Fun Family Adventure

My family loved playing Escapely’s Spyhunter in San Diego! The puzzles were fun and the right level of challenging for us: we seldom got stuck and the sensible solving path worked. The components in the puzzle kit made the event tactile and engaging. My 8-year-old loved playing and was involved with everything. He was just as good as the adults (perhaps better!) at spotting the right thing from the real-world locations.

Overall, we had a great time. It was a good balance between walking and solving and the puzzles provided delight to solve and made us feel smart when we cracked them. Even before we got home we were looking online for other Escapely puzzles we could try out in nearby cities!

    So much fun!

This game was so much fun! I was beyond excited to see Escapely had a game for my city and it did not disappoint. A group of us spent an entire afternoon solving puzzles and getting to know the Little Italy neighborhood a bit better. And despite there being 6 of us we still opted to use a hint or three for a few of the more difficult clues (thank goodness for hints!). I recommend these adventures to anyone who is lucky enough to have their town featured.

    Great Overall Experience

We loved it! My 9 year old son loves going to “regular” escape rooms and we thought this would be awesome for him, my wife and I… we were not disappointed. It was challenging, but with the clues as options, it allowed us to challenge ourselves in the perfect way. Our favorite part was how you infused the buildings/art in the city to a part of the city we have never been to before. We are already talking about buying ones for other cities that we might travel to over the next few years.

The best San Diego escape room experience

About the escape room game

This escape room adventure around Little Italy takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in San Diego. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around the pedestrian-friendly Little Italy area to track down clues and expose double agents!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in San Diego. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our San Diego escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

In Escapely's San Diego escape room, you are a top secret spy tasked with exposing a ring of double agents threatening to take down the agency. We suggest starting near Amici Park so that you'll be close to your first clue stop. Clues are integrated with your surroundings, so in keeping with the Little Italy theme, some of your first clues are Italian recipes that you must find! As you crack codes and advance throughout the escape game, you'll also find clues at Piazza Basilone, a memorial to soldiers who died during the Korean War, and Piazza Giannini, honoring the founder of Bank of Italy which later became Bank of America.

In the same area, you'll find the Little Italy street sign, which is a vibrant homage to this trendy (and delicious) San Diego neighborhood. You can also make your way to Waterfront Park to see the fountains and the beautiful water views. We suggest ending the game at the Little Italy Food Hall to enjoy some food and drink after the escape room, or while you finish the final puzzle. Or, choose another location in Little Italy.

San Diego escape room FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within downtown San Diego, the clues are different than all other spyhunter games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.

Little Italy is a trendy, exciting, and delicious part of San Diego. It is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in San Diego, which is perfect for Escape the City. The area is small and it's packed full of restaurants, bars, and cafes begging to be patronized. After finishing the escape room, we certainly recommend sticking around to try it out! You will also want to wander by Piazza della Famiglia, with a tile fountain in the middle, which will make you forget you are still in San Diego!
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in Little Italy!
