    Family Fun Day

Our family loves escape rooms. We’ve done many of the brick-and-mortar rooms that Kansas City has to offer, so when I saw Escapely advertised on Facebook I thought it would be fun to try. We were not disappointed. We lucked out with great weather and enjoyed walking around a neighborhood in our city that we had not previously explored. We had lunch at a local restaurant before we headed out which was new to us as well. The clues were fun and interesting. It was hard enough to be fun but easy enough that we never got too frustrated. We would absolutely do another one if you develop another KC option. Thanks for a fun family day!

The best Kansas City escape room experience

About the escape room game

This escape room adventure around the Garment District takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Kansas City. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around Kansas City to track down clues and crack the case!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Kansas City. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on Escapely's Kansas City escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

In Escapely's Kansas City escape room, you're a detective tasked with solving a mysterious murder. You must find clues and track suspects around the Garment District. (The clues are in the real world, but the suspects are on our app.) The Garment District is full of Kansas City history and players will get to experience much of it while playing. The game begins at the Graphic Arts Lofts, housed inside the historic Graphic Arts Building which was once used for commercial printing. From there, travel to the Kansas City Library's community bookshelf, which consists of 25-foot high books on the side of a parking structure. The titles of the 22 volumes shown were chosen by a community vote.

The escape room will also take you to the Lewis and Clark: Corps of Discovery Statue, which stands on a spot Lewis and Clark noted would be a commanding location for a fort. Later in the game, you get to visit the historic Savoy Hotel, now called Savoy at 21c after an extensive renovation. The new owners made sure to keep the historical murals and you can now go see them surrounding the bar. This outdoor escape room is the perfect way to explore this historic neighborhood in downtown Kansas City and learn a little about Kansas City's garment center roots.

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within the Garment District in downtown Kansas City, the clues are different than all other Whodunnit games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
The Garment District is full of history and historical monuments perfect for escape room clues. At one point, the Kansas City Garment District made 25% of the country's clothing. While in the area, you must check out the oversized needle and button sculpture on 8th and Bank that commemorates this history. It makes a great photo opportunity. Also interesting: Henry Perry, the father of Kansas City-style barbecue first built his name serving barbecue to garment workers from a stand in an alley.
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in Kansas City!
Escapely's Kansas City escape room takes place in the Garment District near Quality Hill and the Library District. The whole game is in walking distance, so parking anywhere in the area will do. To be close to the first clue, park near 934 Wyandotte St. There is also a free streetcar in Kansas City that will take you right into the area!
You will not need to enter any businesses to play this Kansas City escape room. All clues are publicly accessible.
