About the escape room game

You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around Adams Morgan to track down clues and crack the case!
This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Washington, D.C. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our DC escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way. Escapely's DC escape room begins with a call to help solve a murder. You must put on your detective hat and find clues and suspects around Adams Morgan. (The clues are in the real world, but the suspects are on our app.) You'll start by finding your first clue at the Adams Morgan community board. Then, you get to walk down 18th Street, which is the heart of DC's trendy and funky Adams Morgan neighborhood. Your next set of clues is at the sculpture garden outside the Marie H. Reed Recreation Center and then the game takes you to Kalorama Park and Champorama Park. We suggest ending up at Adams Morgan staple Madam's Organ to finish the game (and have a drink!) but you can choose any other place in the area. Adams Morgan is also known for its multicultural dining options, from Ethiopian to Vietnamese to falafel if you have time for dinner.

Adams Morgan Escapely FTW!
We did the Escapely outdoor scavenger hunt in Adams Morgan about a year ago and absolutely loved it. Our group was five adults and two kids under 10, and it worked surprisingly well for everyone—the kids participated on and off but stayed engaged the whole time. It was such a fun way to explore Adams Morgan and discover cool spots and details we never would’ve noticed otherwise. We covered a lot of ground, and the neighborhood was perfect for it, with easy pit stops along the way for a drink or a bite to eat. The challenges were clever and thoughtfully designed, especially how they incorporated buildings, street art, and the surrounding environment. It struck a great balance between challenging and fun, and by the end we were already excited to try more Escapely games in other neighborhoods. Highly recommend for groups looking for a unique, interactive way to explore a city.

Great afternoon in Adams Morgan solving puzzles and exploring neighbourhood
My husband and I had a blast doing the Adams Morgan escape game! I really liked how well planned out the route was – no real doubling back, things were on the way, the stops were at places where there was space to linger or even sit – no small feat when DC streets can get a little full of people at time! Also kudos for use of local landmarks, one of which was part of my favourite puzzle in the game 🙂 Great recommendation of The Diner as a start point, and we ended up having a drink at the Roofers Union rooftop bar nearby while solving the endgame. While a little pricey, it’s not more than we would’ve paid for an escape room or movie, so I thought it was fair. Cute little relaxed 3-4 hour date!

A fun -- and different -- family outing
I highly recommend this as a family outing. There were 6 of us in our group — in a wide age range; my husband and me (in our early 70s); our daughter and her husband (in their 40s) and our granddaughter and a friend (both 10). There were puzzles for everyone; it was a good assortment. The Hints were a big help in some of the more complicated puzzles; but we never had to go all the way to the Explanation, so the difficulty level was just right.
I have lived in or near DC for most of my life, but the game showed me parts of Adams Morgan that I had never seen. It was great. If I had any suggestion, it would be that the game include a link to a walking map; we had a little trouble finding one of the locations but we ultimately did find it so no big concern.
We plan to do the Escapely in Georgetown, too!

Great activity for all ages!
Super fun! Great for all ages. An awesome way to explore Adams Morgan and get to know the neighborhood. Bring walking shoes, a water bottle, and a backpack. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Great day with family & friends!
We really enjoyed the challenge of the game and exploring a neighborhood we were unfamiliar with. The mystery story was well thought out and it was fun to discover the “real world clues” along the way. Based on the recommendation from the app, we had lunch at the starting point, The Diner, which was very good. I would definitely do this game again in other cities!
