The best Denver escape room experience
About the escape room game
This escape room adventure around Upper Downtown takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in downtown Denver. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around Upper Downtown to track down clues and expose double agents!
This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Denver. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Denver escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way. In Escapely's Denver escape room, you are a top secret spy tasked with exposing a ring of double agents threatening to take down the agency. We suggest starting near Vibe Coffee and Wine, but you can start and park anywhere in the Upper Downtown area. You'll walk by the Upper Downtown Lightrail Station, the Denver Convention Center, the Old City Hall Bell, and the Denver Performing Arts Complex, one of the largest performing arts complexes in the country. As you continue the game, you will find clues at the Kettle Arcade and one of the campuses of the University of Colorado Denver. We suggest a few places to stop to eat and drink around downtown Denver, like the German restaurant Rhein Haus, which has an outdoor beer garden if the weather is nice! If you prefer a different spot, you can choose any other location in the Upper Downtown area.

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within downtown Denver, the clues are different than all other spyhunter games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Upper Downtown is a vibrant and thriving area of Denver with museums, hotels, and the large Denver Performing Arts Complex, with venues for theater, dance, and music. There are many clues integrated throughout the neighborhood perfect for escape room puzzles! The 16th Street Mall is one of the most walkable areas in Denver, perfect for an outdoor escape room. If you're with kids, after the game you can check out the Denver Firefighters Museum, housed in a historic fire station.
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in downtown Denver!
There are parking garages in the area - we recommend starting near 16th St and California. The 16th St/California light rail station is very close to the start of the game if public transportation is convenient for you!
There are no indoor clues in our Denver escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around Denver's Upper Downtown district for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Denver.

Happy New Year escaping with the fam
My family had a great time figuring out solutions together and exploring parts of Denver we would typically overlook. The game is challenging and fun. Great recommendation for coffee in there too!

Team Building Fun!
Fun way to get out and about in Denver! The team building component was fun, it’s interesting to see the different ways people approach and solve problems together. Everyone has a role in it!
We had lots of good laughs together and created some cool memories.

I’ve always wanted to participate in The Amazing Race and this was such a fun local version. I was definitely sprinting to the finish as if Phil was going to be there. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical at first but holy smokes was it a blast. Highly recommend doing this with your company and if you’re having an event where folks are meeting each other for the first time plan this for the beginning of the week. It’s a great, natural ice breaker.

Great way to get to know the city
This is a really fun way to get to know a city better, whether you live there or are just visiting. It’s like a combination outdoor escape room and self-guided walking tour. Clues and puzzles are specific to city landmarks that bake in local history. We had out of town guests, 4 adults and two pre-teens. The puzzle difficulty is just right with the kids solving some that stumped the adults and vice versa. The hints are useful – we were appropriately challenged without needing too many hints but they are well-written to nudge you towards the solution without giving it away. Two to three hours is about right unless you’re stopping a lot to eat and drink. I would definitely do this again with a new puzzle or a new city.

Can't wait for more!
We had an absolute blast! We will definitely be ordering this experience for other cities during our travels and as gifts for friends.
Our favorite part was the relaxed pace. We loved the ability to take our time, stop for a meal or a drink, and enjoy a spontaneous and adventurous night. Traditional escape rooms often put us on a strict time limit, leading to a more structured evening. This experience, however, allowed us to explore at our own pace. For instance, we stumbled upon a martini bar that our friend had forgotten about and decided to detour for a drink before continuing on.
The difficulty level was high, and we did need the hints. It might be obvious somewhere and we missed it, but we realized that the “”adjustable”” difficulty really pertains to the hints. Choose your level and start with opening hints early. If you don’t need them, you are awesome.
We will be ordering more experiences whenever we travel to a new city. This has turned a normal night out into an incredibly fun way to enjoy our time together and explore new areas.
