The best Austin escape room experience
About the escape room game
This escape room adventure around downtown Austin takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Austin. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around downtown Austin to track down clues and expose double agents!
This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Austin. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Austin escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way. In Escapely's Austin escape room, you are a top secret spy tasked with exposing a ring of double agents threatening to take down the agency. We suggest starting at Capitol Cafe at 1001 Congress Ave #180 because it's close to the first clue. You will head to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission which oversees all of the state libraries in Texas. You will also venture to the Texas State Capitol grounds to visit the Tejano Monument, which honors the role Tejano settlers have played in Texas history. Nearby, you will also stop by the Texas African American History Memorial, which depicts June 19th 1865, also known as Juneteenth, when African Americans were freed from slavery. It also celebrates other notable events in African American Texas history. You will get some interesting Austin architecture as you visit the Norwood tower, a 16-story Gothic skyscraper. In 1929, it was the first building in Austin with central air conditioning and electric elevators. Today, it has been refurbished. Finally, you will stop by the Paramount Theater in downtown Austin, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. You can end the game anywhere you would like, but we suggest Punch Bowl Social on 522 Congress Ave. It has music, food, drinks, and games! It even has bowling lanes. If you plan your Austin escape room for evening time, there are plenty of dinner options in the area to finish off the night.

Unusual Group Fun
Such an usual and fun experience for my family and friends! I think it was 10 of us who all worked together to solve the clues around downtown Austin and figure out the end goal. Some of the clues were harder than others but the hints helped us solve it when needed. Plus it was fun just to walk around downtown, stop for a rest at a bar, and have a lot of laughs. A really great idea and so glad we did it.

Excellent afternoon puzzling with pals
My friends and I had a great time with Escapely Austin! We play lots of games together but we aren’t expierenced at escape rooms. This was a nice way for us to work puzzles without being locked in a room together.
We chose a gorgeous early-March day and Austin weather did us right! It took us about 2.5 hours to complete and the walk was easy. There are plenty of places on the walk to stop for a drink or snacks to rest our brains before the next task.
The difficulty level was very good. Some tasks were easier than others. The game gives you the option to ask for hints, so if you ever get stuck, it’s easy to find out what you need to do. We only got truly lost in a task once, and the hints helped is find the answers we needed.
We had 11 in our group, I do think the recommendation of around 6 is preferable as we had a hard time getting everyone involved the whole time.
I loved the use of the Capital grounds for the early clues! That was the most fun for me!
All in all, I would 100% recommend this game to folks looking for an Austin activity.

Family Fun!
This was great family fun! Everyone played a hand in us figuring out the clues. Great to be outdoors in the city we love exploring.

Good experience
We had a lot of fun though had to use a few hints and take some pauses in between. But mostly we solved it ourselves. Definitely something to do the first time in an area to wander around.

Fantastic real-world puzzle adventure at your own pace, something for everyone
My wife had gotten the game as a birthday present for me for us to do together. We both love puzzles and with around a dozen escape rooms under our belts, we wanted to try something new. I was really impressed by the entire package and game design. At first I was skeptical about the game box-to-phone QR code system, but it worked perfectly every time with zero glitches, and also made pausing/restarting super easy. I loved following the real-world prompts and clues to decipher the puzzles. It helped to bring a fresh perspective to the Capitol grounds, which we’ve seen lots of times in 10 years of living in Austin but got to experience in a completely new way. I loved the variety of puzzles, and also how the same method of puzzle breaking was never repeated–which meant the finale was full of red herrings for us! I thought the difficulty level was perfect. Having the variety of puzzles meant that different skills were involved each time, and also the multi-step puzzles meant that we might breeze through one part and then really have to think about another part before solving the puzzle. The multi-level Hint system for each puzzle was really well designed, providing us with just enough guidance as we wanted but not giving away too much, saving us the satisfaction still of ‘solving’ it. I also liked (though we never used) the option for ‘Explanation’ if someone was just really struggling. The fun facts were a nice touch of trivia for the real-world locations also. All around, it was a great experience, and I would highly recommend this for both visitors and locals!
