This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Washington, DC. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Washington, DC escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way. Escapely's Georgetown escape room starts off at the iconic Georgetown Theater marquee sign that was restored in 2016 after more than 20 years unlit. The theater itself has been completely changed inside and turned into a multi-use commercial building, but the marquee sign harkens back to old Georgetown and its important role in Washington, D.C. history. The next few stops take you to explore a few sites on the C&O Canal, which was initially built to be a major shipping and trade route between Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Today, its towpath is a scenic trail. If you have time to spare, go for a walk while you're there! You'll also get to explore M street, which is the heart of Georgetown and one of DC's most vibrant shopping and entertainment areas. To close out your Washington, D.C. escape room experience, Georgetown is home to many restaurants and shops and has a thriving bar scene. The escape room app will recommend a spot to go close out the experience, but stick around a make a night of it!

So. Much. Fun!
So. Much. Fun! The puzzles were appropriately challenging – particularly in crowded Georgetown – but we managed to complete the game. It was so fun to wander the streets of Georgetown and chase down the clues. The storyline also was fun and the integration across the physical game, the weblink and the real world was pretty seamless. Highly recommend for an afternoon of outdoor adventure (with a couple of bar stops along the way of course!).

Unique, fun game in Georgetown
Fun event! Had a great time going around Georgetown and figuring out the clues! The design was creative and the hints were pretty well done when it was too creative for us lol. The whole thing was contained in a couple blocks, we wished it had covered more of Georgetown but it would be accessible to people who weren’t as mobile!

Escapely in Georgetown was a hit!
We recently completed the Escapely scavenger hunt in Georgetown. Overall, we had a really great time and remain big fans of Escapely. We’ve done one of your other hunts in the Adams Morgan neighborhood and absolutely loved it, so we were excited to try another.
The Georgetown hunt was fun, engaging, and well-designed. Loved the ghost theme! We also really appreciate how challenging the puzzles are without being overwhelming — it makes the experience rewarding for adults while still allowing kids to get involved. We especially love that hints are available when needed; we try not to use them, but it’s great knowing they’re there if we get truly stumped. For reference, our group included 6 people (including 2 younger kids), and everyone was able to participate at some level, which we really value.
That said, we did have a few pieces of constructive feedback. The hunt didn’t seem to span a very large portion of Georgetown, and we found ourselves wishing it took us farther. With a large-ish group, it was sometimes difficult to find places to stop and brainstorm without going into a sit-down restaurant. We ended up doing that at one point and it worked out great, but most of the coffee shops and bakeries we passed were packed. This may very well have been due to the time of year and the weekend we chose, but it did affect the flow a bit for a larger group.
All that said, we truly love Escapely and are excited to do another hunt soon. It is challenging, engaging, fun, and accessible to mixed-age groups, which isn’t easy and it’s why we keep coming back for more!

Great experience
I got this experience for my twin 11 year olds. We did it together and I found it to be appropriately challenging, but not too difficult. They loved solving the puzzles and there wasn’t too much walking so that made them happy, too! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a fun family activity for tweens.

A great adventure and a good time!
This was a great adventure! We got to walk around the city and see places we haven’t been, solving puzzles as we went. We took another couple with us and even then the clues were challenging. We needed lots of hints but still had to figure things out. We ended up with a lunch at a local place and got to relive the clues. Lots of fun! We would definitely do another.
