Outdoor Escape Room - Explore Sydney

This was our second Escapely outdoor escape room. We love them. The puzzles are just right amount of difficult (and there are built-in clues if you need them). Everyone participates in figuring out the next step (place to go). You get a bit of exercise, too. The small box fits in your suitcase; just need your smartphone.
Best feature: You visit and explore more of the city while having some great fun.

Clever and fun

We completed this outdoor escape room with my friend and her children (aged 5–10), and we all had a fantastic time. It was such a fun way to explore the city, and it made us appreciate landmarks and details that we had walked past countless times without ever really noticing.
The clues were incredibly clever, with a surprising amount of depth and thought put into them. They were engaging for both the adults and the kids, and it was very satisfying piecing everything together as we went along.
I would highly recommend this experience to locals and visitors alike. It’s a great way to spend a morning in Sydney.

Amazing Day Out in Sydney

I played the Escapely game in Sydney Harbour with my partner. Both of us are puzzle game lovers and have completed many a board game and in person escape room.
We absolutely loved the experience. Tried to fully immerse ourself in the game: enjoyed brunch with our 5% discount before the day started and then ended at the pub for the final puzzle!
Overall puzzles were pitched at a really good level. Very well signposted and it was always clear what we had to do to solve the puzzle. Excellent balance of walking/sight seeing as well as puzzling.
Absolute no brainer for any puzzle/escape room fan wanting a nice day out!

Escapely in The Rocks, Sydney

My friends and I had a great experience in The Rocks in Sydney with Escapely. The cost was reasonable and a cheap day out for all of us. The experience lasted about 3 hours but we did take our time. It was a great way to explore a beautiful city.

I had so much fun doing this it actually inspired me to try and make some of my own outdoor escape rooms for my friends !

Fun group activity

Loved seeing ‘hidden’ parts of the Sydney Harbour that we wouldn’t normally look at. The puzzles ranged in easy to challenging but as a group we got there! Very satisfying.

This escape room adventure around Sydney Harbour takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Sydney. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around Sydney Harbour to track down ghosts and reunite two star-crossed lovers!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Sydney. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Sydney escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

Escapely's Sydney escape room starts at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. You'll search for your first clue at the entrance facing the water and enjoy a gorgeous view of the Sydney Opera House. There are no escape room clues inside the museum, but it's worth a visit to see some of Australia's finest contemporary artists. Next, you'll walk along Sydney Harbour in search of clues along your path. While you walk, enjoy the bustling harbour, ships, and of course the views.

The next part of our Sydney outdoor escape room will take you to Macquarie Place Park, a small triangular urban park in the heart of the city. It's on the site of the original Sydney town square. Finally, walk over to Herald Square to search for clues in the famous Tank Fountain, showcasing animals native to Australia. If you have time, since you're in the area, we highly recommend walking all the way to Sydney Opera House for some pictures and to enjoy the view along the way. It's slightly uphill on the way there, but worth it. Then head to one of the many restaurants in the area to celebrate "escaping" Sydney Harbour!

Your Escape The City game will arrive in the mail to the address provided at checkout. If you are purchasing last-minute, you can select in-person pickup at checkout to pick up your game locally that same day (or on a future date). Search your email for "escapely in-person" after purchase and respond with your preferred pickup date and time so we can set it up!

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated throughout Sydney Harbour, the clues themselves are different from all other Relic games. But the puzzles will feel very familiar.

Sydney Harbour is a beautiful area with breathtaking views of the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the entire harbour area. It's a walkable area with plenty to see for locals and tourists alike. The Sydney Opera House itself doesn't include a clue in this escape room, but it's close to the route and worth a visit. Also nearby are the Sydney Botanic Gardens, which overlook Sydney Harbour. They're also the oldest botanic gardens in Australia. The rest of the escape room takes you a walk around the harbour and into the neighborhood to see several urban parks and a famous fountain. It's chock full of photo-opportunities! It's the perfect spot for a Sydney outdoor escape room.

There are paid parking garages throughout Sydney Harbour that are well-marked and easy to find. If possible, there are also ferries, buses, and trains that service the area. Once you get there, the entire escape game is in walking distance.

There are no indoor clues in our Sydney escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
