    Fun date activity!

I did this activity with my boyfriend since we’re both really into puzzles and escape room-esque games. It was a fun 3 hour evening which included stopping for ice cream and drinks throughout. The puzzles were easy/medium in difficulty and you never have to walk more than a few blocks in one stretch. We really enjoyed how immersive it was with the neighborhood. It was like finding real life easter eggs to an online game. I definitely recommend it for puzzle heads. I’d also say it was best for 2 people. I wouldn’t recommend for a larger group. Lastly, it’s probably best done in the daytime when it’s still light out. It was a perfect date day activity and I would definitely do something similar again!

    Great Family Activity

We did this tour with a 7 year old and 10 year old who love mystery games, watching Spy Ninjas on You Tube, etc. We used to live in the neighborhood 10 years ago so it was fun to walk around and see how things have changed and explore the new places. I loved that the clues took you into places, we made it into an afternoon/evening long adventure and got treats and drinks along the way which broke it up. The clues were pretty hard for us adults, I have to admit we used a bunch of hints but the app did a good job of leading you in the right direction without giving you the full answer right away. I was surprised at how much the kids picked up on themselves, my 7 year old is pretty bright and she understood one of the harder clues before I did. Overall, great story line, the interactivity was really cool and the area was really fun to explore.

    So Much Fun!!!

My husband and I LOVED this! We are into all the at-home mystery games: Hunt a Killer, Finders Seekers, Deadbolt Mystery Society, etc. This was top notch and more than exceeded our expectations. Can’t wait to complete the Nashville box with our friends in TN!

We had a blast doing this as a family!

My older son was looking for a birthday present for my wife/his mom and came across Escapely on Instagram. We really had a fun time doing it!
There were a few tasks that were harder than the next – for Chicago the Time Out Market task was pretty challenging – but the game is well thought out enough to provide hints if you need them to help ensure a successful completion.
While more like Clue than Amazing Race, we loved that it was in the city and a good activity to do as a family (high school aged kids). We’ll look into doing in other cities when we can!

Good fun with a few storyline hangups

We had a great time playing this game in Fulton Market in Chicago. The clues were fun and there were several that were particularly creative. The only clue we didn’t enjoy was one that required going inside a restaurant where the clue was located somewhere that made you feel like you were in the way of the patrons. It was also awkward to have to go past the host looking for a clue without buying anything (though I’m sure that was kind of the point!) Other clues were in more public locations which was a lot more fun and didn’t feel intrusive.
The biggest place for improvement would be the storyline, I thought it was a little convoluted and wasn’t as well written as a lot of the other escape rooms or puzzle games we have played. The end didn’t really make that much sense. But since the puzzles were fun it made up for the weaker story.
I think it would be best to play with 2-3 players, but could be played with 1 or 4. More people than that and it would be hard to work on the clues together. Overall great fun, and a good way to check out some new spots in town whether you’re a local or a visitor.

PS you can DEFINITELY do this one on an empty stomach as you will come across several food related places.”

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you’re a serious escape room enthusiast. It’s like playing an escape room with the same storyline and similar puzzles but with different clues available. In the Chicago escape room, the clues are integrated within Fulton Market, so the clues are different from those found in Whodunnit games in other cities. However, the puzzles will feel familiar. That said, we do have enthusiasts who play (and enjoy) the same theme in multiple cities!

Fulton Market is perfect for a Chicago escape room because of its active entertainment scene. There are endless food options nearby, many of which are stops along the escape room route (so be sure to arrive hungry!). Once an industrial warehouse zone, the area now features vibrant murals that are perfect for hiding clues. Fulton Market is also conveniently located and quite walkable. It is both! In a traditional escape room, you must solve puzzles that lead you through to the next escape room, and sometimes more. In Escape the City, you will have to do that, plus solve interconnected puzzles using clues in the real world. That makes this immersive activity one of the best things to do in Chicago!
We suggest parking near N Peoria Street and W Lake Street, as that is where you will start the game. Fulton Market is a small enough area that anywhere in the vicinity will work. If you prefer public transportation, you can take the Green Line to Morgan Station, the Blue Line to Grand Station, or the Halsted bus (8) to Fulton Market.
