Unique, Fun, and Exciting Escape Game!

The outdoor escape room was fantastic! It was the perfect level of difficulty (we’ve done 35 traditional escape rooms) with puzzles for young and older members of our party to figure out! The real world aspect of this game was such a cool and new concept for us and really added to the excitement. The clues within the city were clear and easily accessible (we didn’t have to jump any fences and run from junkyard dogs thankfully, although that could be a fun addition to a sequel!).

We had ages from 9 to 50 and everyone really had a great time. The app experience was truly seamless and really exceeded our expectations. We loved the humor and critical thinking required also.

This is truly a fun and enjoyable afternoon out in the city that you really shouldn’t miss. It was 102 degrees in DC that day and we didn’t even care, because we were having so much fun. I would highly recommend the Adams Morgan version (we loved it so much we’ll be doing the Boston one next month) of this unique, fun, and creative idea!

Fun hybridization of escape room and escape crate well integrated with neighborhood

The Escapely crate was great! We’ve done a ton of escape rooms and escape crates, and the hybridization of the Escapely crate with the local neighborhood environment was fantastic. Looking forward to trying out in other cities! (Going to try and plan some trips around these even…)

Fun and creative outdoor escape room experience.

We had a great time doing the DC Escapely outdoor escape room. It was very cleverly put together, just like the experience of doing an escape room with the different clues and puzzles, but outside and incorporating real world clues. Great for anyone who like to be outside, be active, explore a city, and solve puzzles! It was a decent amount of walking, so keep that in mind.

Had a blast exploring around and solving clues

We had so much fun exploring around this awesome neighborhood in DC!! Took us about 3 hours to finish, and the difficulty was just right where it was challenging for us but mostly solvable (we used a few of the hints)! The clues were super creatively integrated into the real world. For two of them when we finally figured it out it was a literally mind blowing “wow” I guess I didn’t read the review fully and thought it would be near the National mall, but it was honestly nice that it was in another neighborhood. Super vibrant area, we ended up eating at one of the restaurants that tied into one of the clues and it was just overall a super fun experience and a great way to explore a new part of DC.

Creative and fun outdoor escape room!

We had a great time playing the DC Escapely game. It was really cleverly put together with clues and puzzles inside the box, plus real-world clues you had to walk around and find. It was somewhat difficult without any hints but definitely doable, plus you can unlock different levels of hints on the app/website. It was so fun and a great gift. It took us about 3 hours to complete and it was a bit of walking, so it wouldn’t be good for someone with mobility challenges but it’s great for anyone who likes to be active, outside, and explore the city! I’ve lived in DC for a few years and this game showed me new parts of DC I’d never seen before.

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Washington, D.C. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our DC escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

Escapely's DC escape room begins with a call to help solve a murder. You must put on your detective hat and find clues and suspects around Adams Morgan. (The clues are in the real world, but the suspects are on our app.) You'll start by finding your first clue at the Adams Morgan community board. Then, you get to walk down 18th Street, which is the heart of DC's trendy and funky Adams Morgan neighborhood.

Your next set of clues is at the sculpture garden outside the Marie H. Reed Recreation Center and then the game takes you to Kalorama Park and Champorama Park. We suggest ending up at Adams Morgan staple Madam's Organ to finish the game (and have a drink!) but you can choose any other place in the area. Adams Morgan is also known for its multicultural dining options, from Ethiopian to Vietnamese to falafel if you have time for dinner.

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within DC's Adams Morgan, the clues are different than all other Whodunnit games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Adams Morgan is one of the most funky and eclectic neighborhoods in all of Washington, D.C. It's very pedestrian-friendly and 18th Street, the center of Adams Morgan, is filled with interesting shops, dining options, and great nightlife. The DC Arts Center hosts local artists and Meridian Hill Park is a great place to go on a nice day. Tryst coffee shop is a neighborhood staple and their sister restaurant (The Diner) is a partner of the escape room!
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in DC!
Adams Morgan is very small (only about a mile from end to end) so you can park anywhere in the area and be close to the game. Public transportation and ride share are always recommended to cut down parking costs.
There are no indoor clues in our DC escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around Washington DC's Adams Morgan for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Adams Morgan.
