Escapely's Santa Monica escape room begins with Kevin, an alleged conspiracy theorist who wants your help proving Sandie, the Santa Monica Sea Monster, is real rather than a hoax. You think he sounds a little nuts, but decide to see if you can help. The crowds clamoring for a sight of Sandie have become so large and so passionate that you're even curious whether there's something to the rumors. We suggest starting near the 3rd Street Promenade, which is close to your first clue. As you crack codes and advance throughout the escape game, you'll find clues at a coffee shop, the Santa Monica Pier, and a sculpture on the street. You will even get to walk down to the beach to see whether you can find evidence of a sea monster in the local waters! One of the clues will take you all the way out to the very end of the Santa Monica Pier for some beautiful views of the ocean.

Best Scavenger Hunt Company
I had already done an escapely game in Dallas, so when a friend was visiting I bought one for Santa Monica. The game is really well done. I like the different types of logic of the puzzles and the mix of phone clues and hands-on clues in the box. I’ve done a few other scavenger hunts through different companies and this one is, hands down, the best.

Fun for the whole family outdoors
We had a fantastic time with Escapely in Santa Monica! We did it with our 6, 9, and 12-year-olds, and it was perfect for the whole family. Each of the kids figured out different parts of the puzzle box, and it was so hands-on that everyone felt engaged and excited. The combination of solving puzzles and exploring the city was unique and made for a memorable experience. We loved walking around Santa Monica together, discovering new spots while working together as a team. It’s a great activity for families who love adventure and a little challenge. Highly recommend!

Excited to Explore!
I got this adventure box for an upcoming trip to LA with my friends! We’re planning to use this to explore the city and pass the time while we wait for the event that we’re actually traveling for to come up. We are big fans of escape rooms so this outdoor adventure will hopefully be a good time! I like that the size of the box is portable and small enough to travel with. I was very much expecting to have to lug around a big boardgame box so I’m glad this is not the case.
I will update my review if the puzzle experience is poor after trying it out this summer, but for now we’re really excited to give this a try!

Family Fun in the Sun!
My kids (8 & 10) and I had so much fun playing this game! The use of real world locations made it fun for them to see a new part of the city we live in. We had to use a couple of hints (the game isn’t easy…that’s a good thing!) but overall we were able to solve the puzzles.
We’ve done a couple of other family-friendly escape rooms and this experience was just so much cooler because it was outside. Definitely want to do another LA one and definitely recommend!
