    Loved Escapely Seattle

Loved Escape the City Seattle. We do a lot of puzzles being avid geocachers and escape box fans. So we are rarely surprised anymore, but can appreciate quality.
Not only was Escapely Seattle quality, but it held some awesome surprises.
The first stop at a place for refreshment was great. Having a 20% discount coupon in the app was genius.
Using the art that we had walked past many times to integrate seamlessly into the story and the puzzles was amazing.
We highly recommend Escape the City for families and dates. Enjoy!

    The best one we've tried

We have really high standards and were really skeptical (having tried some disappointing games from other companies that just had us walking in circles staring at our phones). Escape the City was a pleasant surprise. Puzzles were interesting, not just easy solves. We had to think. We’re Seattle locals and we saw things we have literally never noticed before in Seattle Center. It was raining (our fault for going on a rain forecast day) but we found places to duck for cover and didn’t want to stop. I highly highly recommend this one.

Gets you outdoors for a fun mystery game with your family!

We got the Seattle version of the game for which you need to walk around the Seattle Center. The initial instructions gives you the basics, and the real puzzle hunt starts after you scan the next QR code inside the box. Along with this, you get a bunch of envelopes with clues, and a locked box whose code you’re working towards figuring out. Each city version seems to have a different theme — this one is more fantasy-oriented, with potions and spells and such…

This is great for a family weekend outing, or possibly as a corporate team building activity. You’re not just getting a bunch of papers in envelopes, you’re actually getting the whole organized experience via the videos and clues on the web site. The only negative for me was the fact that you need to create an account for the online site, but I can live with that.

Highly recommended… I might order the NYC version of this before our upcoming trip to the city in a couple of months…

    Fun but takes too long

The puzzles were fun but challenging. We had to use a lot of the hints. It’s probably best for a smaller group of 4 or less. We had 7 of us and it was too hard for everyone to see the clues in the box. It was also a lot of fun to see parts of the Seattle Center area that we hadn’t seen, and we’re locals.
The biggest drawback is that there are so many clues and it took a really long time to do. After 2.5 hours of walking around and still weren’t done, we grew tired of it so we gave up and never finished it.

    Challenging yet fun

I got Escape the City as a gift for my sister (who just recently moved to Seattle) and we did it together – and we both loved it! The minimalistic size of the box used in conjunction with the app worked very well. Right amount of time, right amount of distance covered, saw places/things we had never seen before. (I have done a city scavenger hunt before, where you really have to travel around different places in the city and it can take the better part of a day to complete, so I truly enjoyed that this one was limited to the Seattle center area in ~3 hours.)

In Escapely's Seattle escape room, you are the potionmaster for a day at Florian's Elixir Emporium. After a spell gone wrong, you must create potions, handle customers, and find the right ingredients to fix the mess you caused! Your first clue is at Rabbit Rabbit Tea, a boba tea shop that even includes a discount for Escapely players! Then you will get to visit Climate Pledge Arena, developed for the 1962 World's Fair. While there, take a closer look at the sculpture La Diab Pish, which depicts the Pacific Giant Octopus. You will also visit an art installation featuring the Lushootseed language spoken by the Duwamish tribe. The Duwamish are the original inhabitants of the Seattle area, and they are still a thriving and active part of Seattle culture to this day.

Your next clues will take you to the park near the Armory building and to the Fisher Pavilion. The Fisher Pavilion is beautiful and often used for wedding receptions and other fancy affairs. It's a beautiful place to spend some time, especially when searching for escape room clues. The final stop on this adventure is the Neototems Children's Garden. Seattle Center is an incredible place to explore. If you have time, we highly suggest stopping in to see the Chihuly Garden and Glass to see the beautiful glass art. And if you have never been, a trip up the Space Needle (right in the vicinity of the game) is truly breathtaking.

Yes, but it is generally not recommended unless you are a dedicated escape room enthusiast. This is because outdoor escape rooms often offer the same experiences. You may encounter some that have similar story patterns and puzzles but with unique clues available. In the Seattle escape room, the clues are integrated into the Seattle Center, so they are different from those found in outdoor escape rooms held in other cities. However, you will find that the puzzles will feel familiar. That said, we do have escape room enthusiasts who enjoy playing the various adventures offered in different cities. So, it is entirely up to you.
An outdoor escape room is a real-world escape game where you are not confined to a single room or enclosed space! Instead, you will explore the Seattle Center, searching for clues while discovering iconic landmarks like the Space Needle, unique murals, and local shops you might not have noticed before. Teams will work together to hunt for clues, solve puzzles, crack codes, and tackle challenges to win the game. It is an exciting, themed puzzle experience that gets you out of the house and immersed in the vibrant Seattle Center!
Puzzles work in succession, meaning you need to solve one before you are led by clues to the next location! Your game box holds most of the clues you will need to solve this escape room adventure. But keep your eyes open—the rest of the clues are hidden around the Seattle Center! Once you find a real-world clue, you must think creatively and compare it with what is in the box to crack the puzzle. Enter the solution into the app to move on to the next stage of your outdoor escape room journey.
Seattle Center makes for an excellent escape room location because it features iconic attractions like the Space Needle and Pike’s Place Market. Plus, it is very walkable! While you are playing our Seattle outdoor escape room adventure, you can discover more about the rich culture of this stunning location! For instance, you can explore elements of the Duwamish language at one point. Not only that, but you can also enjoy some poetry, visit local shops, and even take a break while sipping bubble tea. (If you like! You can still complete the game without buying anything.) If you have time after your outdoor escape room game, the Space Needle, with its revolving glass floor, offers a 360-degree tour of Seattle. For those with kids, the Artists at Play playground is also a must-see. But there is so much more to discover in Seattle Center that is not even part of the game!
Technically, it’s both! This Seattle outdoor escape room works like a classic escape room AND a scavenger hunt. You see, in a traditional escape game, you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City, you need to look for clues hidden around Seattle Center and solve succeeding puzzles in order to finish the adventure.
You can use a car or the light rail to get to the outdoor escape room. Fortunately, there is plenty of parking in the Seattle Center, so you can easily park in the area. If there are no spots available, you can also park anywhere near the center since the game is well-contained in the area. If you opt for the light rail, you should note that the stop is only five minutes away.
You will need to go inside, but only for one clue inside a local business. Note: You are not required to make a purchase to finish the adventure (though we do recommend grabbing a drink). To find the clue, you just need to enter the establishment. All other clues are outside and publicly accessible!
Anyone can play Escape the City! After all, it is a self-guided adventure for all ages, so couples, families, individuals, and friend groups can enjoy this adventure around Seattle.
