    Excellent Work Team-Building Event Idea

This was our company’s summer event and everyone agreed that it was a great way to connect and team-build! The staff at Escapely were beyond helpful during the lead-up to our event, answering any question we had. It is a great way to see a good chunk of downtown while definitely getting your steps in. Fair warning here: they are a doable set of clues, for sure, but they are definitely tough!

    Family Fun in Downtown T.O.

My sister recently moved to a new city so I purchased an Escapely kit for her as a Christmas present and to help her explore her new home. She gave me the Toronto kit in exchange.
Myself, spouse and two teenage boys played the game over the Christmas break. None of us had done an escape room game before so we found it challenging. After the first couple of envelopes we started to get the hang of it and didn’t need the clues until the final challenge.
Would definitely try an Escapely game again when visiting a new city or play a second version in Toronto if that was an option.

    ghoulishly good walkabout

Strolling through downtown Toronto was a delight—I uncovered hidden corners of the city while on the hunt for ghosts. Escaply delivered a walking escape room experience that was fun, creative, and surprisingly challenging, all set against the backdrop of downtown Toronto.

    Bachelor party fun!

We did this for my bachelor party with some friends.

The puzzles were great, not too hard, not too easy! The clues were well thought out and great for beginners or pros of escape rooms!

The path we walked was totally manageable and enjoyable. Would be fresh for people visiting who want to get familiar with Toronto!

    Totally doable in 1-4 hours!

    All in all great experience

The best Toronto escape room experience

About the escape room game

This escape room adventure around downtown Toronto takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Toronto. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around Toronto to track down ghosts and reunite two star-crossed lovers!

This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Toronto. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Toronto escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way.

Escapely's Toronto escape room starts off at the Princess of Wales Theatre, a theatre for live performances in downtown Toronto. It was almost demolished to make way for commercial development, but after backlash from the community, the plan was cancelled and the theatre is still there today! Next you'll head to the historic and beautiful St. Andrew’s Church to search for some clues outside. Then on to the Concourse Building to search for clues on the intricate mosaic covering the entryway arch. If you look closely you can even find a tarot card deck on the mosaic which fits perfectly with the escape room theme!

The next part of our Toronto outdoor escape room takes you to the Gooderham Building, also known as the Flatiron Building. It's wedged between two narrow streets and is probably the most iconic and photographed building in all of downtown Toronto. Be sure to snap a picture of the building with downtown Toronto in the background. Finally, you'll search for clues at St. James Park and enjoy the formal gardens, gazebo, and fountain in the middle. It's the perfect place to end the escape room. To celebrate your escape, you can also head to one of the many restaurants and bars in the area. The stadium is nearby, but you won't need to encounter the crowds or traffic on the escape room route. Still, we suggest checking the ballpark schedule when planning your adventure!

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated throughout Toronto, the clues themselves are different from all other Relic games. But the puzzles will feel very familiar.
Downtown Toronto is a beautiful and eclectic area, with skyscrapers, parks, nightlife, culture, and plenty of shops and restaurants. It's very walkable and every stop on this escape room adventure is in walking distance. While you're there, you'll probably want to check out the St. Lawrence Market, a famous food hall and farmer's market with hundreds of vendors selling delicacies. We also suggest a visit to the Distillery Historic District to walk the brick-lined streets and enjoy a stroll through the boutiques, galleries, and cafes.
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in Toronto!
There are plenty of parking garages throughout downtown Toronto but there is also amply public transportation. If you can take a bus, streetcar, or subway, the entire escape room is within walking distance one you arrive.
There are no indoor clues in our Toronto escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around downtown Toronto for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Toronto!
