The best Minneapolis escape room experience
About the escape room game
This escape room adventure around Downtown East and the Mill District takes the best parts of an escape room and the best parts of a scavenger hunt and merges them into the most fun thing to do in Minneapolis. You get to search for clues hidden in the real world and then use them to solve escape room puzzles. When you solve for a code, the app will tell you where to go look for your next clue! Instead of trying to escape the room, this Escapely adventure takes you around Minneapolis to track down clues and expose double agents!
This real world escape room is the most unique escape room in Minneapolis. It takes you on a clue-solving adventure around the Mill District to find clues, solve puzzles, and follow an immersive storyline. If you want to keep the experience a surprise, don't read this next bit - it contains some spoilers about where you'll go on our Minneapolis escape room adventure and what you'll see along the way. In Escapely's Minneapolis escape room, you are a top secret spy tasked with exposing a ring of double agents threatening to take down the agency. We suggest starting at a coffee shop close to your first clue so that you can sit down and solve the first puzzle. You will then travel to find a clue at the Mill City Museum, which is built in the ruins of an old flour mill and worth a visit in its own right. You'll walk right by the iconic and historic Gold Medal Flour signs, which are located right on the river and remind viewers of one of the most recognizable Minneapolis brands. You will also get to search for clues in Gold Medal Park! About half of the game takes place in the Mill District. The escape room will take you right up to the US Bank Football stadium where the Minnesota Vikings play. Depending on your penchant for crowds, you may want to play your escape room around football game days! It isn't required, but one option to end the game and play the last puzzle is to visit the food trucks at The Commons, a huge park in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. If you have time, you can stick around for outdoor movies and musical performances when the weather is nice in the summer. Another great option is to bring a picnic to enjoy at one of the green spaces in The Commons after you play.

Yes, but it is not generally recommended unless you are a serious escape room enthusiast. It would be like playing an escape room that has the same storyline and similar puzzles, but with different clues available. Because the clues are integrated within downtown Minneapolis, the clues are different from all other Spyhunter games. But the puzzles will feel familiar.
Downtown East is a thriving and desirable area of Minneapolis with many coffee shops, restaurants, and parks. The largest is the Commons, which is a 4.2 acre green oasis in the middle of the city. In the summer, you can view outdoor movies and concerts, as well as watch the many amateur sports leagues that use the park fields. It is much more than just a business district, with museums, art galleries, and literary attractions. Most important, it's a great and safe area to walk around while playing an escape room game. On Saturdays, you can visit the Mill City Famers Market before or after the game to grab a picnic lunch and enjoy afterward at the Commons! For a great photo opportunity, head to the Instagrammable Stone Arch Bridge.
It's both! In a traditional escape room you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next to escape the room (or a series of rooms). In Escape the City you must solve puzzles that lead from one to the next, with clues in the real world. It's one of the best things to do in Minneapolis!
There is metered parking all over downtown Minneapolis, in addition to parking garages. You will want to park in Downtown East, but anywhere near the Vikings Stadium will keep you central to the escape room route.
There are no indoor clues in our Minneapolis escape room game. Everything is publicly accessible.
It's a self-guided adventure around Downtown East for couples, families, individuals, friend groups, and anyone else looking for a fun thing to do in Minneapolis.

So Much Fun!!
We had SO MUCH FUN and can’t wait to do another one. The difficulty level was perfect — just a little bit too hard for us but do-able with the clues which was great.
My Aunt gave us the game as a Christmas present for our whole family.
Favorite part was that it was outside during great weather and that it was downtown Minneapolis which was fun.
Can’t wait to do another one sometime!

Great hangout or date idea
Can you handle solving riddles/puzzles with your significant other? If so, great date idea! If not, bring along a couple people for a buffer 😛
Seriously, great time walking around, utilizing things in the environment that you don’t have to be local to find or understand, and helpful hints for us that suck at this. The suggested restaurant at the end is also AMAZING! Altogether, my partner and I spent 2.5 hours, probably would’ve been shorter if we had more people, or suck less. Fun time!

Escape room, but outside
Our friend bought the game and we went on a double date with it. so there were 4 of us. With 4 people, the difficulty level was not bad at all. In fact, it was kind of in a sweet spot, not too hard that we were really stumped even with the hints, and not too simple as if for a child. but we all agreed that if it was just 1 of us, we would have been scratching our heads.
my favorite part of the game was that it took me to areas of Minneapolis that i had never been to before. And i am a 20+ year resident! it gave us good places to go back to later.
One constructive criticism we had was, for one of the puzzles, we had to do a scratch off. We had trouble scratching it, so much so that we ended up scratching it too much and scraped off the icon underneath. We’re not sure what the fix is there, but that was our only criticism.

A wonderful experience. Great fun and awesome puzzles!!!
This was an amazing time. We had a great time with friends figuring out puzzles, and walking around beautiful downtown Minneapolis.
The distance was just right, the puzzles were challenging, but not overly difficult. Blending the excitement of an escape room, with being around places that are notable (historical, cultural, etc…). Lots of fun. We plan on doing this in each new city we visit!!

Buy this game - such an awesome family adventure!
This was an absolute BLAST! My entire family (including kids 8 and 10) loved it. What a great way to explore a city and also use your brainpower. The videos and QR codes were super easy to use. I loved that the hints started more generically and then got specific if you were really stuck. Such a fun family outing.
